HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DAY 0 and 1 PART 1
![]() HI ALL, GREETINGS FROM IRELAND. OMGOMGOMG I KNOW YOU GUYS ARE DYING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THE PAST FEW DAYS SINCE WE LEFT FOR IRELAND. LET ME TELL YOU THAT WE ARE TREATED WITH THE HIGHEST FORM OF HOSPITALITY BY THE OCEAN YOUTH TRUST PEOPLE AND WE REALLY COULDN'T ASK FOR MORE! Firstly, thanks to the Irish Embassy and Irish Business Association for this marvelous opportunity to experience the Volvo Ocean Race Festival at Ireland. We have truly and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here in Ireland so far and this overseas experience definitely exceeds our expectation of a school trip. :D Right, to day zero before our flight. We spent a pleasant afternoon at the Irish Ambassador's abode as we had the honor to have lunch with him and the members of the Irish Business Association in Singapore. We learned that Killiney Road, which is named after an Irish word, is pronounced as Kuh-lai-nee and not kee-lee-nee. HAHA. This is highly enlightening, we shall help spread the correct pronunciation to our fellow taxi uncles and friends. :P We almost flipped when we witnessed how beautiful the house is, really an eye opener for all of us. Abit suaku, but I'm glad to have stepped into a wonderful place like this for once in my life. HAHAHA. We arrived at Changi Airport at 6pm and was sent off by our groups of fantastic friends. HAHA. ![]() ![]() Ha, Love you guys! :D ![]() We're missing you guys from here... :( We departed at 8.30pm and left for Abu Dhabi for a 7 hours transit flight to Dublin. We arrived at 12 midnight local time at Abu Dhabi. SOOO EXCITING. HAHA. Some pictures taken in the AD international airport. ![]() ![]() At Abu Dhabi Airport ![]() ![]() ![]() Larry was truly excited for the internet at the aiport. LOL. ![]() Still very amazed. ![]() ![]() We arrived at Dublin Airport on the 29th June in the morning with greazy hair and smelly mouths, and welcoming us was the frigid wind and freezing weather. HAHAH. It's really not a glamorous moment ah. We looked for the coach that took us to Galway from the Dublin Airport. We reckoned we had to take our own transportation to Galway from the coach station. 15 euros per person!!!!!! BTW, Dublin to Galway is not like Tampines to Hougang, LOL, we had to take a 4- hour bus ride to our apartment. OH YA, the goods prices in Ireland are quite high. Like a bottle of 500ml coke is €1.90 which is almost S$4. LOL. Heartpain. I shared a box of potato wedges with Wyncy and it costed us €2.90. :( We drove past the country side and the greenery is BEAUTIFULLLL. It is like lush emerald green! And we saw cows and horses grazing by the roadsides. HAHA. Very nice. ![]() ![]() ![]() And I observe that Galway is politically and socially active, see the amount of posters hanging on one pole. HAHA. They are having their election now btw. Quite happening. When we arrived at the Galway Coach station, we were received by Colm, Orla and Bronagh, the guys from the Ocean Youth Trust who have given us the best hospitality and treatment we can expect. We were taken to our luxurious apartmentttttt!!!! ![]() This is our house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mal legs look damn long here, illusion of wide angle lens ladeh. PRESENTING TO YOU, THE GUYS APARTMENT!!! (The girls' one is not as impressive as ours, haha) LIKE SOME IKEA SHOW ROOM LIKE THAT. HAHA. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [EDIT] After a short break at the apartment, we went to the Race Village (30 mins walk, fyi, we take the same route every single day from our apartment to town and back, healthy right.) to meet Orla and Bronagh who introduced us to the crew from Lord Rank. It is actually the OYTI (Ocean Youth Trust Ireland) yacht which we will be sailing on the last week of our trip to Cork. Lord Rank is a 68ft yacht that has been operational for the past 17 years. ![]() This is Bronagh who is extremely cute and friendly. ![]() Some pictures from the festival village. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then we went to this restaurant bar for dinner. I had beer battered fish and chips and the serving was HUGE LIKE.... same for Wyncy's and Larry's smoked chicken penne, and Mal's chicken pie. I was too hungry to take any pictures of my food. HAHA. Then we had our first Guinness beer brewed in Ireland and it tasted quite awesome. Slightly different from what we have from Singapore. A bit less gassy and with much more Irish spirit. HAHA. ![]() ![]() Mallory looks like she's highly drunk from the Hot chocolate (Wyncy's one) she's holding. LOL. After dinner was a trip to Dunnes Store which is like the Fairprice in Galway to do our grocery shopping. Then home sweet home and much more fun awaited us on the second day. Very happening right? We learn new things of each other every day and we learned that Vani's favourite catch phrase is 'Stupid' and 'Idiot' and they are usually said to Larry in her fairy accent, then she will scatter fairy dust at him and he will become smart again. SO SMART THAT HE PUT THE MILK IN THE FREEZER BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE REFRIGERATOR. So he happily wasted a carton of milk. -.- Okay, goodnight, I'm going to sleep now. Tomorrow Larry The Smart will update to tell you more about Day 2!!!! [/EDIT] With many love and hugs and kisses, Eric
